Dave! This is beautiful, so well put and succinct. It feels very comforting realising that everyone goes through transition, even though it feels like such a deeply personal solitary position to be in. I left an industry after 20 years in it and have flapped around for the last 18 months trying to work out how I can be without associating myself with it. In those days of panic I revelled in my children and our home whilst totally spinning out I was quite useless. Bit ing and yang. Deep contentment spliced with utter panic. I launched a soap business two weeks ago http://www.chucklesoaps.com. It was meant as a website for my local Village mates and instead I received 800 orders in 14 days and they re being featured in the Telegraph on Sunday! I realised this weekend I suddenly might be a soap person. Something I literally have never been considered – so I love reading this and highlighting questioning – who are we after all? I hope to supply all the childrens hospitals with my soap .. I like the idea of working this to my own true passions and desires. And this has given me the guts to go for other plans. Possibly. I mean If I don’t just totally swan dive into soap… Anyway, just to say I love this, great to read your deep brilliant thoughts and thank you for making them all clear so someone like me can understand :). Sending love and congratulations on embarking on your new path. XX
Thank you Anna and I love your soaps! Brilliant work! X
